Infrastructure Used To Provide High Speed DSL Services
Exetel Pty Ltd can provide a highly reliable, business grade DSL
service suitable for businesses that need both speed and a guaranteed
level of up time to operate their key business communication services.
The Exetel provided SHDSL service Service Level Agreement can be
provided on either a business hours or 24 x 7 basis. The price
difference is only $50.00 per month to ensure that a user can log
faults whenever they occur and get a resolution time of 4 hours from
the time the fault is logged which, if the business operates its web
based /internet based services 24 hours a day is a sensible 'insurance
policy'.
Using Exetel to provide high speed, high reliability communication
and internet services will provide the high reliability a business
needs but at a price that is more affordable than that of any other
provider of SHDSL services in Australia.
Connecting To Exetel's Business Grade DSL Services
To connect to Exetel's high speed SHDSL services you will need a DSL modem or DSL router.
Exetel will configure the DSL modem/router and physically connect
it to the DSL line and test the circuit to ensure that it operates to
specification. All you then need to do is to plug in an Ethernet cable
from the Exetel provided router to your router to activate the service.
The modems/routers we provide remain our property and if you
discontinue the service both the DSL line and the modem/router are
de-commissioned and may not continue to be used by you.
The router/modem provided may not be used for any purpose other
than terminating the SHDSL line and for the physical connection of the
customer's network via its own router. Specifically the customer must
not make any changes to the router's IOS or to its configuration.
Telephone Line Required
The telephone line required for a high speed SHDSL service is a
standard PSTN service that does not go through a PABX or a Commander or
other Key Station system. This line cannot be used for other telephone
services such as fax or voice; it must be dedicated to the SHDSL
service. The line required to connect to the business grade SHDSL
service is provided by Exetel within the quoted prices and does not
affect your other telephone lines and services.
Installation Time Frames
It takes around 20 working days from the date an application is
received by us to the date that the service will be installed and
activated.
Once an application is received a planned installation date will be
given within 7 days and the actual date will be confirmed within 21
days.
Availability
Exetel's SHDSL services are available in many areas of Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

Connecting To Exetel's VoIP Service
You can connect to Exetel's VoIP services using your current
PABX/Key Stationyou're your current handsets. Exetel will provide a
VoIP switch that sits between your PABX and your current Telstra line
terminations which allow you to use all of your current PABX
functionality, your current Telstra lines and numbers just as you do
now.
The only thing that will change is that your outbound calls will go
via an high speed DSL connection to Exetel's VoIP services which
deliver toll quality voice calls that are indistinguishable from what
you are currently experiencing.
If you use Exetel to provide you with the high speed DSL service
then Exetel will supply and install the VoIP switch at no cost to you.
To see how this works please look at the diagram that can be found here.
Exetel ADSL and HSPA Post Paid Plans Include One DID
A "DID" (Direct In Dial) number is a valid PSTN
dial number that is in the same format as a standard wire line number
and allows calls from standard telephones to be made to your VoIP
number . Currently local numbers are available for all the major
capitals: Newcastle, Penrith, Wollongong, Geelong and Central Coast.
There are some other towns and areas available. You can email Contact Us with
your town and we can do a service area check. For those areas without a
service number, remember you can keep your existing number and/or
choose a local DID in an are where friends and family call you from, so
they are charged a local call from their standard telephone provider.
Of course, if they also use Exetel VoIP it will be a free call.
Choose an optional Specific International VoIP pack
For a low monthly fee of just $5.00 per month you can choose an
International VoIP pack. This allows you to make calls to a specific
international destination that you may call often, at prices even lower than our usual prices. Standard international pricing is available here. The discounted VoIP pack pricing is shown below:

Telephone Line Required For VoIP
If
you are using an Exetel “Naked” ADSL2 service then
no ‘telephone’ line is required to use VoIP.
If you use the Exetel ADSL2 service the telephone line required for ADSL2 is included in the ADSL2 monthly access charge
Exetel VOIP Via Current Handset Implementation (Combined ADSL2 Modem And ATA)
To use a VoIP service you will need either a stand alone ATA or an
ADSL modem with an ATA capability built in to it. If you are thinking
of buying a new ADSL2 capable modem and/or a new ATA, SeeknBuy is
currently offering the Netcomm NB9WMAXX at a very attractive price - click here for details. This is the same modem we use ourselves, so we know it is good!
The advantages of the NB9WMAXX (or any other
manufacturer's similarly specified product) is that it provides all the
required functions in one 'box' with only one power outlet required and
reduces cabling to the minimum. Its major plus is that it allows you to
use your current telephone handset (and current telephone number) to
receive calls while you use the same handset to make calls using VoIP.
In the event that the VoIP service/ADSL service becomes unavailable for
any reason you continue to use your current handset to make calls via
the standard telephone service without the need to plug/unplug anything.
Exetel VOIP Via Current Handset Implementation (Using Current Modem And New ATA)
To allow you to use your current PSTN handset to make and receive
standard PSTN calls you will need a dual port adaptor that plugs in to
your ADSL modem to access your VoIP service as well as remaining
connected to your standard telephone service.
The current cost of the Netcomm V210P single port ATA sourced through SeeknBuy can be seen by clicking here.
Specifications of the V210P may be found by clicking here
Exetel VOIP Via 'Soft Phone' Implementation
If you would prefer to use your PC's sound card and a head set to
make and receive VOIP calls you will need ´soft phone´ software from
the provider of your choice.
Exetel recommends that the softphone software you select uses the
G.729 codec. You may select free software that uses G.711 but be
advised that you can only make outgoing calls. Incoming calls cannot be
received.
Exetel VOIP Service Features
